We create unique experiences with erotic performance art
Founded by Dawn Jansen and established in 2019, Sweven was born in a nightclub where a group of friends started experimenting with eroticism and performance art during a residency at the iconic Raspoutine nightclub. Since then, we have developed a loyal following and catered to private estates, night clubs, hotels, and members-only social communities. Existing in all of these environments has been a journey but ultimately, has helped us hone how eroticism and feminine expression deserve to thrive.
Sweven is female-founded featuring an all-female cast and has carved a new genre. Forget what you thought was “sexy” for entertainment experiences in Los Angeles. We are not traditional. We don't do burlesque and we are not strippers. We exist instead to restore the lost art of sensuality by bringing sexuality out of the darkness and into the light. We are not taking ourselves too seriously here for this reason.
SLIP INTO SOMETHING MORE COMFORTABLE
Drawing inspiration from erotic high fashion photography and vintage foreign erotic films, Sweven feels like an Ellen Von Unwerth photoshoot, an avant-garde runway show, a weird art gallery exhibit, and Sleep No More all rolled into one.
We soften the line between sensual expression and the sexually explicit in order to make eroticism approachable. We are provocative, not pornographic, creating a bridge from sex to art. We are enigmatic and experimental which breeds confusion and tension for our audiences that we hope will lead to more curiosity around what it means to be “turned on”.
YOU’RE GOING TO BE HERE A WHILE
Sweven is built on intimacy and friendship which serves as a foundation of safety for the cast to experiment with sexuality and free their inhibitions during their performances. Part of what also sets Sweven apart is the improvisational nature of our show creating a paradox of unpredictability and a bit of danger in order for eroticism to thrive. Our performances typically happen in a series of short and intense vignettes in order to build and maintain excitement and intrigue for our audiences.
Our performers rely on their existing close relationships to inform and intuit their creative expression with each other. In a way, we are metaphorically making love through creative play and performance art which is why our experiences feel more voyeuristic and less artificial. The women in the show are encouraged to bring their individuality and what makes them weird to the performance and to make it their own which is both empowering to the artists and intoxicating to behold, adding a level of authenticity that is often missing in the portrayal of female sexuality.
Our experiences are designed for smaller audiences in order to curate intimate environments with intentionality around how your senses are being stimulated. It’s not just about how an experience looks, it’s about how it feels, for both the artists and the audience that leaves a lasting impact. In this way we believe in minimizing distractions in order to connect you deeper to each other and the women in the show while simultaneously oscillating between the extreme and the elegant to keep you questioning reality.
WAS THAT GOOD FOR YOU?
XX,
SWEVEN
